Ukrainian Relief Workers Put Montclair Police Donations To Good Use

The Montclair Police Department donated dozens of bulletproof vests to volunteer medical workers operating in Ukraine.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Police Department recently donated dozens of bulletproof vests to volunteer medical workers operating in Ukraine – which are being put to good use, authorities recently reported.

In April, Montclair police sent 55 retired bulletproof vests to Instytut Ratownictwa Medycznego (The Institute for Emergency Medicine) and Medycyna Praktyczna (Medicine in Practice). These two organizations are based in Poland, and provide donated medical supplies for hospitals and rescue teams operating in areas affected by the war, using a network of trusted drivers who deliver to hot spots in Ukraine.

“The Montclair Police Department was recently provided with photographs of the donated vests being put to good use,” authorities reported.

The photographs showed unnamed Ukrainian medical workers and volunteers, who meet with the Ukrainian box truck drivers at the border and load up their vehicles for transport. The drivers then take the much-needed medical supplies to local hospitals in Kharkiv, Kiev, Odessa, and Lviv, where they are distributed as needed, police said.
