Versatile Swimmers Help Lead MKA

Junior Serena Nguyen of Montclair and sophomore Emma Flick of Upper Montclair are two of the standouts for the Montclair Kimberley Academy girls swimming team which entered recent action with a 3-3 record while competing in the rigorous Super Essex Conference American Division.

Nguyen has been valuable in the relay events including the 200-medley, 200-individual medley and 200-freestyle.

Flick, who won the 50-freestyle (:29.63) in the Cougars' 112-57 dual meet victory over West Essex on Jan. 9, has also shined in the 200-free.

MKA, under the direction of second-year coach Cienne Keegan, qualified for the NJSIAA team state tournament last season.
