Watchung School's Tag Sale Coming Up!
Don't miss an event that's been going on since the 1920s.

Don't miss this! Watchung Elementary School will host a tag sale that's, well, sort of special. Why? Because it's an event that's been going on since the 1920s.
As organizer Mary Fisher noted, "it was very important during the Depression and World War II because shoes and coats—much less sleds and skates—were impossible to come by new. At that time, the sale was called an Opportunity Sale. I myself have worked on the sale, usually held twice a year in spring and fall, since 1991, when my oldest child started at the school. I am the current chair of the sale, and this will be my 38th sale."
Many people come to every sale and talk about their memories of previous events.

"One elderly gentleman always tells my how he remembers his mother ran the sale when he was a student at Watchung," Fisher said.
The tag sale takes place Friday, May 6, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, May 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Bag sale from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.)
