Weekend Weather Forecast In Montclair Shows Rain – Then Sunshine

Tired of rain, flood warnings and ugly weather in Montclair? It may get worse before it gets better, forecasters say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Tired of rain, flood warnings and ugly weather in Montclair? It may get worse before it gets better, forecasters say.

Montclair and other parts of New Jersey are still reeling from this week’s winter storm, which dumped several inches of rainfall across the Garden State and prompted flood warnings. Roadways in the area have been soaked with the deluge – leaving some drivers stranded – and local rivers in Essex County have been seeing troubling spikes above their flood levels.

The good news? This weekend may bring some rays of sunshine to the area – literally.

The bad news? Things are likely to get wet again on Friday evening.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Flood Watch are in effect for the area until Saturday morning.

Here is the NWS’ latest weather forecast for Montclair:

Friday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 48. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Friday Night: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperature rising to around 52 by 3am. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 7am. Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 45 by 5pm. Breezy, with a west wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 29. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Sunday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers between 1pm and 4pm, then a slight chance of snow showers after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 20.

Monday (Martin Luther King Day): Partly sunny, with a high near 30.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
