West Orange Teen Stabbed Near Montclair Park: Police

A 14-year-old from West Orange was stabbed near Nishuane Park, Montclair police say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 14-year-old juvenile male from West Orange is hospitalized but in stable condition after a stabbing near Nishuane Park in Montclair on Thursday night, local police say.

Officers have apprehended the suspected assailant, another 14-year-old from West Orange, the Montclair Police Department announced Friday afternoon.

Montclair police responded to multiple 911 calls about an injured juvenile in the area of the park around 6:50 p.m. On arrival, officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck, back and arm, authorities stated.

Montclair police apprehended the teen’s suspected assailant in the vicinity of the park. He had a single scratch on his elbow, authorities said.

Emergency responders transported the injured teen to a nearby hospital, where he was in stable condition, police said Friday.

Montclair police are investigating the alleged stabbing, authorities said. No additional information was immediately available.
