What’s Up With Montclair Parking Meters? Councilman Gives Update
When it comes to parking meters in Montclair, the problem is clear. The solution, however, is much more complicated, a councilman says.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — When it comes to parking meters in Montclair, the problem is clear. The solution, however, is much more complicated, according to councilman Peter Yacobellis.
In October, members of the Montclair Town Council released a statement about the town's long-running problem with "non-functioning" parking meters.
While parking woes have been a local gripe that have stretched back more than a decade, the situation reared its head again recently when many of the township's meters stopped functioning. The problem? An internet service provider upgraded its broadband cellular network, affecting township meters using older technology, officials said.

According to the council, the Parking Utility has launched a multi-pronged attack on the issue, including replacing 120 meters in the Valley Road, Maple Plaza and Grove Street lots with pay station kiosks.
