Yankees or Mets: Which Way are They Going?
Mets opened the season with a win and the Yankees are trying to match them today. Give us your predictions for the 2012 season!
Things are looking good for the Mets as they start their 50th Anniversary season with the cockeyed optimism that only Amazin's fans can muster.
Johan Santana makes a great impression with his post-surgery return to the mound. David Wright, Daniel Murphy and Josh Thole each get two hits as the Amazin's scratch one run across the plate for a 1-0 win over their NL East rivals, the Atlanta Braves. More good news! Jason Bay hit a ball that almost got to the leftfield wall that was moved in to help him pad his anemic home run totals.

True, their brand-new centerfielder Andres Torres strained his left calf muscle and will be sidelined for awhile, so the glow didn't last too long. But let's not dwell on the negative (there's plenty of time for that in, say, mid-June), so let us know how you're doing. Did you go to the Mets game? Share the experience and let us know what you think is coming for the scrappy team from Flushing.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are taking the field today for their season opener. C.C. Sabathia takes the hill as the Bombers kick off their series against the Tampa Bay Rays in typical World-Series-or-bust fashion. A-Rod is telling everyone that he's fit and ready to swing for the fences, Texiera promises his early-season swoons are a thing of the past and Derek Jeter says his birth certificate is wrong and he's really 28.

Meanwhile, Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera have received their Medicaid cards, which will offset the costs if they suffer any injuries so the Yankees could try to buy more pitching as they try to win the challenging AL East before making a push through the playoffs.
