3E Public Relations and SGW Integrated Marketing Communications Host Passionately Pink Program to Raise Funds and Awareness for Breast Cancer

3E Public Relations and SGW Integrated Marketing Communications hosted a Passionately Pink® fundraising program benefiting Susan G. Komen® on Wednesday, October 8th. To help spread the Komen message, “Mammograms Save Lives,” the Montville-based agencies hosted a Tie a Ribbon campaign, where employees placed six-foot-long, hot pink ribbons on trees along the town’s main street, Changebridge Road. Participants wore custom t-shirts designed and sold by the businesses as part of fundraising efforts. The Tie a Ribbon campaign culminated with a company celebration including lunch and themed baked goods prepared by agency volunteers.

“Through the involvement and generosity of our employees, friends and family, we are working to raise awareness for breast cancer and reinforce the importance of early detection,” said Dave Scelba, president of 3E Public Relations and SGW Integrated Marketing Communications. “Breast cancer has personally touched many of us at 3E PR and SGW and we are proud to join the fight to save lives.”

The trees represent life and the pink ribbons represent action, awareness, survivorship, and the memory of those who have lost their battle. Family members and friends of employees who have survived breast cancer joined the agencies to tie the first ribbon. Susan G. Komen North Jersey provided 3E Public Relations and SGW Integrated Marketing Communications with ribbons to distribute to all participants; suggested donations of $5 per ribbon were also collected.

Last year, 6,000 individuals were diagnosed with breast cancer in New Jersey. Breast cancer is a widespread disease that strikes women and men of all ages and backgrounds. With approximately 1.3 million people diagnosed annually, it is the most prevalent cancer in the world. Increased awareness, early detection and improved treatment methods are helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into survivors.
