Alliance of Private Special Education Schools in Northern New Jersey Presents Scholarships to Outstanding Students

Special Education Organization Awards Future Leaders

Montville, NJ- The Alliance of Private Special Education Schools in Northern New Jersey has awarded four college-bound seniors- scholarship money to support their pursuit of careers in the field of special education.

As a means to underscore their deep pledge and support for the special needs community, the Alliance provides two annual scholarship programs to graduating high school students who have demonstrated their strong commitment to helping people with disabilities through volunteering and, who plan to pursue post-secondary education and/or training in careers that will enhance the lives of people with disabilities.

Alexander Bolden, a graduate of ECLC in Chatham, has been awarded the Joe Gorga Scholarship, named in honor of one of the founders of the Alliance. This scholarship is presented to a graduating senior from an Alliance-member school as part of the organization’s commitment to excellent outcomes. Alex has been accepted into the Mason LIFE program at George Mason University where he will pursue his education in becoming a special education swim instructor.

Three public school students were selected for the Future Leaders Scholarship. They are: Claire Jarvis, a senior at North Hunterdon High School, who plans to attend a 5-year college program to become an Occupational Therapist; Dana Bibeault, a senior at Hopatcong High School, who plans to study Health Sciences at Stockton University; and Ilana Fishman, the first place winner, who is a senior at Glen Rock High School who plans to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy at Quinnipiac University.

The winners will be presented with the scholarships on May 14th at the Alliance Spring Conference, held at the Eisenhower Conference Center in Livingston. The conference offers an opportunity for families to learn about organizations, service providers, and agencies that serve children and teens with disabilities.
