From The Sidelines: Montville's Primary—I'll Take The High Road And You Take The Low Road And We Finish Together
High roads, low roads and passing Lake Montowac.

Many have commented that the recent Republican primary was one of the most negative they have seen. Deb Nielson was under attack for the whole thing. I even got an honorable mention in an attack piece as an architect of some unnamed plot against the Sandham/Daughtry team. There were accusations of "A lack of integrity" and outright lying about records. The silly thing is that as excited as people got, you had three people with pretty much the same record.
I don't know if Deb Nielson decided to stick to the high road as a conscience decision or if she just didn't know how to respond, but the fact is, she didn't respond. The result was that she got a grand total of 40 votes more than the person who was attacking her and it was his running mate that got left at the gate. That he wasn't miles behind her says volumes about the nature of Republican primary voters and maybe voters in general.
All this brings me to the point that all of this campaign was personal and had nothing to do with the next three years of Montville Township or the residents. That seemed to be lost in the flyers and postings of the combatants.

Included with this blog is a current picture of Lake Montowac. It is a small thing but symbolic of the fact that the township leaders spend more time fighting with each other then they do paying attention to the needs of the township. This little lake is on a main artery of the township and should be a little jewel along the way. Could someone stop fighting long enough to turn on the fountain see that it gets cleaned up?
