Cedar Hill Elementary Was A 'Blaze' With Halloween Fun

Students and families compete for pumpkin prizes. Pink elephants, pumpkin doughnuts, robots, and brains among the Blaze event winners.

On Friday, Oct. 23, the Home and School Association of Cedar Hill Elementary School, in Towaco held its annual Halloween Blaze. The event s a tradition where Cedar Hill families participate by making their most creative and carefully carved pumpkins while other Cedar Hill families vote for the best in four different categories: Most Original, Scariest, Best Carved and Cutest.

The Blaze enjoyed a large turnout this year. Dozens of pumpkins, made by kindergarten through fifth grade families, were entered in the four categories. Students were encouraged to wear costumes, and plenty of pumpkins, treats, music and fun were available for everyone.

Sponsored by the Cedar Hill Home and School Association, the event’s Committee Chairs were Tina Bilenski and Shari Dragone. The team organized the evening and coordinated volunteers. Among the volunteers were students from the Montville Township REACH Program, based out of Montville Township High School, whose hard work and enthusiasm helped make the evening a great success.
