• Football: West Essex Opens with a 27-14 Win over Montville (tapinto.net) — Montville High's football team jumped out to an early lead at home Friday night but ultimately fell 27–14 to visiting West Essex, despite a late touchdown pass from Jackson Gering. Clement Hofbauer scored Montville's first TD on a 9-yard run before West Essex's Gaetano Iavarone took over with four total touchdowns. West Essex now heads to Chatham next weekend.
   

• Madison Police Chief: ARRIVE Together Has Drastically Reduced Use of Force on Mental Health Calls (tapinto.net) — Montville is one of several Morris County towns using the ARRIVE Together program, which pairs police with mental health clinicians and has sharply reduced use of force on crisis calls. Madison's police chief and county officials say thousands of encounters have been handled more safely, with clinicians helping de-escalate situations from suicide threats to traffic stops. The model is now available across most of the county.
