Class of 2012 Beats Heat at Graduation
Warm summer weather did not stop smiles and cheers during commencement ceremony Thursday.
Half a ton of ice and hundreds of water bottles were donated by community organizations and people for Thursday night's Class of 2012 commencement ceremony. But the sweltering temperature had no bearing on a night of reflection of student accomplishments, excitement for the future and pride over time well-spent in the district.
Three hundred and fifty one students graduated from the high school Thursday, according to Board of Education President Dr. Karen Cortellino's speech, with those students completing a total of more than 16,000 hours in a classroom, high school Principal Doug Sanford said.
