Music teacher and Montville resident Elena Loizou will be bringing the songs and culture of Greece to the Montville Public Library on Saturday, July 13 at 1:30pm in the Pio Costa Auditorium.
Loizou, who is from Cyprus, will be joined by friends and performing partners Yianni and Taso, and will perform to renditions of dances, Greek-Cypriot songs and Misirlou, a popular Greek song that has existed since the 1920s.
The trio will also perform a number of songs from prominent Greek composers, including Miki Theodorakis, who is best known for creating music for the films Zorba the Greek and Serpico, and Manos Hadjidakis, who won an academy award for his song "Never on Sunday."
