Montville Environmental Commission hosts first environmental fair

The Montville Environmental Commission has been ramping up efforts to bring environmental awareness to our town and their biggest event yet is coming up! On Wednesday May 22nd, from 7:30-9pm at the Senior Center, the Commission will be hosting a Zero Waste Fair. The program will begin with a short introduction on the zero waste lifestyle and how easy swaps can significantly reduce the plastic you use while saving money. Considering that avenues for recycling are becoming severely limited each year, the Commission is strongly recommending that people reduce plastic waste to protect the next generation's future.

The Zero Waste Fair also will feature a dozen local and eco-friendly vendors, and several DIY demonstration tables to teach residents how to make healthier versions of store-bought products like shampoo and herbicide. Two local girl scout troops will be selling home made lotion bars and plantable seedlings, and a student-run business will be selling a popular all-natural hand sanitizer. Other eco-friendly products like reusable dishclothes, cloth produce bags, and an in-home composter will be available at exclusive discounts only for attendees. Be sure to come early, because the first 20 attendees will also get a reusable folding grocery bag filled with several free samples of plastic-free stain remover, dishwashing soap, beeswax wrap, dishwasher tablets and a reusable cleaning pad.
