Montville JV Baseball Team Takes Second in Tournament
Team battled Indian Hills in tri-conference tournament.

The Junior Varsity baseball team finished second overall in the Tri-Conference JV Invitational Tournament, losing the championship game to the Indian Hills Braves by one run. Montville and Indian Hills were the last to finish of the 18 teams invited to participate in the tournament.
The two teams battled throughout the game, trading leads back and forth. Indian Hills pulled ahead by two runs in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Montville could only close the gap by one run, resulting in a final score of 5-4.
This second place tournament finish capped off a very successful 2012 season. The team finished with an overall record of 14 wins and eight losses. Coach Rick Crescente was able to keep the team focused and playing hard throughout the season. The team featured a solid and deep pitching rotation consisting of Mike Biase, Jason Calcagno, Zack Frederick, Tim Holmes, Ben Koch, Nick Krentz, and Joe Salamone. Because most of the JV players are sophomores, the future of Montville baseball is very bright.
