Montville Police Warn Against IRS Phone Scam
They shared warning signs to look out for.

MONTVILLE, NJ— The Montville Police Department says IRS phone scams are on the rise in town, and have shared warning signs to look out for.
A scammer will call claiming they are from the IRS, saying you owe taxes. The caller might know all or part of your social security number, and might be calling from a number that looks real.
They'll ask residents to pay using a prepaid debit card to avoid jail time or deportation, something the IRS never does.

The IRS will never call and demand immediate payment, call without sending a letter, ask for debit card numbers or threaten to arrest you for non payment.
