The Montville Recreation Department will be sponsoring LEGO ENGINEERING classes by Computer Explorers for Grades 1-5.

LEGO JR. FUN-GINEERING is for Grades 1-2.

If you have a learner who likes building things and figuring out how things work, they will love this class. Join us as we explore, investigate, & solve problems while we learn about the building blocks of engineering-simple machines. Students working in pairs will enjoy hands-on activities using LEGO® Gears and special Technic engineering

components that incorporate math, science & creativity. Students will work through building models that demonstrate mechanical and physical engineering. They will then use what they learned to solve challenges. Learning projects may include: mini mechanical concept models, a moving dragon, scale, clown, crane, car, scale, fan, merry-go-round, and more.

LEGO BRICKS, BEAMS & SIMPLE MACHINES is for Grades 3-5.

Unlock your inner Engineer! Join us as we explore, investigate & solve problems while we learn about the building blocks of mechanical engineering. This exciting engineering class combines LEGO® Education & LEGO® Technic™ materials to explore machines by building realistic models. Students working in pairs will enjoy hand-on activities with high emphasis on building techniques will developing an understanding of mechanical principles of pulleys, levers, gears, and wheels. Students will be encouraged to apply what they learn and come up with creative solutions to engineering challenges. Possible motorized and non-motorized action packed models include: conveyor belt, cranes, curtains, wipers, drumming machine, pliers, fly wheel car, roller conveyor, land yacht, rubber band racer, merry-go-round, drawbridge and more.

Classes will take place on Thursdays: April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5 & 12. Lego Jr. Fungineering for Grades 1-2 will take place from 3:30pm to 4:45pm and Lego, Bricks, Beams & Simple Machines for Grades 3-5 will take place from 5:00pm to 6:15pm.

Classes are held at the Montville Community Park FIELD HOUSE located at 130 Change Bridge Road in Montville, NJ 07045.
