The Montville Recreation Department will be offering two weeks of Petite Equestrian Programs for Ages 3 to 6 (Classes will be broken down according to age & experience).
Participants will learn safety on and around the ponies, grooming techniques, basic riding skills, and other primary horsemanship skills. While this is not a Horseback Riding lesson per say, the program includes an exciting riding component whereas each child will get to ride about 20 minutes and learn how to properly mount, hold the reins and control the horse/pony at the walk and a few steps of trot. Sessions aim to help develop confidence and motor-coordination skills while providing a supportive, fun, non-threatening environment for the participants as well as social interaction among them. This is a participatory program for the parents who so desire so one may be asked to occasionally lend a hand. The perfect preparation for private or semi-private lessons for eager young aspiring equestrians! Course materials are provided. Repeat participants are welcomed as PonyShare constantly introduces new games, challenges and Course Materials. A winner by many...furlongs, this program tends to book early.

Register ASAP! CHILDREN should DRESS APPROPRIATELY for weather conditions & are encouraged to bring STRONG HIKING SHOES, JEANS/SWEAT PANTS, A BICYCLE HELMET, FLUIDS and on the last day a CUT CARROT or APPLE with them.
The camps will be taking place at the Camp Dawson Park located at 80 Jacksonville Road in Towaco.

There are 3 different weeks to choose from:
Session # 1 is Monday through Thursday, June 27, 28, 29 & 30 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. The cost of the program is $200.00 per person for the 4 day camp.
and/or
Session # 2 is Monday through Thursday, August 8, 9, 10 & 11 from 9:00am to 10:30am. The cost of the program is $200.00 per person for the 4 day camp.
Session # 3 is Monday through Thursday, August 22, 23, 24 & 25 from 9:00am to 10:30am. The cost of the program is $200.00 per person for the 4 day camp.
