Montville Recreation Department

The Montville Recreation Department will be sponsoring a RUGBY PROGRAM for the Summer of 2016 for Students Entering Kindergarten through the 9th Grade in September 2016. Students will be grouped according to age.

Montville Recreation in cooperation with the Morris Rugby Football Club is sponsoring a youth Rugby program. This is a non-contact “touch” program with modified rules.

American Flag Rugby is a coed, non-contact, form of rugby using flags. Skills including running, kicking, passing, space strategy, teamwork, and self-confidence will be developed. The program is run as a clinic, with two evening practices and Saturday morning games scheduled against neighboring towns. We know its summer, so we keep things low key - the commitment level is entirely up to you.

There will be also be an introduction to tackle rugby program run alongside the flag program for those children in middle school who are interested in learning the full contact rugby game. Tackle games will be scheduled on Saturdays following the flag games. There is no additional fee to participate in this program.

NOTE: All students who wear eye glasses for playing MUST use sports glasses.

The program will take place on the fields located at the Montville Community Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm from June 13th through July 23rd.

The cost of the program is $85.00 per person ($75.00 for additional siblings).

There will be a $15.00 LATE FEE after June 12th.

*RUGBY JERSEY & SHORTS are REQUIRED for those who DO NOT have one from last year that still fits.*

*JERSEYS (if needed) are an additional $30.00 AND/OR SHORTS (if needed) are an additional $20.00 each.*
