Reading & Writing "Word Attack" classes for students in Grades 3-5
The Montville Recreation Department will be sponsoring Reading & Writing “Word Attack” classes for students in Grades 3-5.
During this accelerated program our certified teacher and reading specialist offers engaging activities to teach children to become strong independent readers and creative writers. Classes will be equally distributed between advancing reading and writing skills. During the writing portion students will learn how to create a story or essay in just 30 minutes! Students will be instructed on the use of several types of openings, lines of dialogue, figurative language, vivid verbs and strong adjectives. During the reading portion your child will gain the confidence and motivation necessary to tackle more challenging books, and by the end of the session, your child will:

* Improve their ability to focus on understanding books
* Identify main events, character development, setting and plot
* Learn how to adjust reading speed depending on material

Session - 1
Days & Dates - Tuesdays: Sept 13, 20, 27, Oct 11, 18 & 25 (No: 10/4)
Times - 4:30pm to 5:15pm
Session - 2
Days & Dates - Wednesdays: Sept 14, 21, 28, Oct 5, 19 & 26 (No: 10/12)
Times - 5:30pm to 6:15pm
Session - 3
Days & Dates - Tuesdays: Nov 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 & Dec 6
Times - 4:30pm to 5:15pm
Session - 4
Days & Dates - Wednesdays: Nov 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 & Dec 7
Times - 5:30pm to 6:15pm
