County winners across the state, in both categories, are ultimately considered for top recognitions by the state of New Jersey and the Governor’s office.

The 2017 – 2018 Princeton University Distinguished Secondary School Teacher is the MTHS Forensic Coach and English teacher Mary Gormley. Gormley has also been named as a National Speech and Debate Association 2018 Educator of the Year Award Finalist, as well as the Montville Township Chamber of Commerce Public Service Award recipient.

Across the state of NJ, recipients of the Princeton University Distinguished Secondary School Teacher awards in each district are considered for participation in the Ivy League School’s spring graduation ceremony.

In addition, Gormley, as one of only five 2018 NSDA Finalists in the nation, will learn on March 2, 2018 if she has been named the NSDA 2018 Educator of the Year.

“We are very proud of the accomplishments of these outstanding educators,” said Superintendent Dr. René Rovtar. “The dedication, time and commitment they share with Montville Township students is inspiring and greatly appreciated.”
