Montville School Of Rock To Host Fundraiser For Cancer Victim's Family
Concert to benefit the family of Ken Galley, Boy Scout leader and active member of the Montville Township community.

The School of Rock at Montville Township High School has performed benefit concerts in the service of community for more than eleven years. On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. the band will step up for their own.
Community member Kenneth A. Galley, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2016. The 54 year-old Montville resident was an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts. His three sons, Brian, Sean, and Eric, all Eagle Scouts, are MTHS graduates. Two of them, Sean and Eric, were members of School of Rock.
“Once a member, always a member,” said MTHS teacher and creator of the MTHS School of Rock, Anthony Sia.

The unique music program is a club that meets during lunch, after school and on Sundays. Student musicians regularly come together and jam. Former students often attend practices and performances. Together they learn to cover hits from all genres.
“There is no other club like this,” Sia said. “Where else can musicians at all levels come together and just learn to be great?”

Great both on and off the stage, the dedicated musicians of MTHS School of Rock will come together on Wednesday, March 16 at 7:30 to raise money to cover the funeral expenses for Galley. The goal is to raise at least $2,000.
“[Ken Galley] was not only selfless with his time, he was giving of his love for his friends and neighbors,” said former Montville Township Board of Education Member Kathy Golden Lindert in a post she placed about the School of Rock benefit for Galley on the OurMontville Facebook page. “Unfortunately, the family needs money to pay for the funeral and other outstanding bills. They set up a GoFundme page, but did not reach their goals.”
Sia and the School of Rock student musicians hope to close that financial gap with the benefit concert. Suitable for music lovers of all ages, the fundraiser will be held in the Dr. Robert O. Stafford Auditorium at Montville Township High School Tickets cost $5 for students and $10 for adults. Additional donations in any amount will also be accepted. All proceeds will go toward covering the cost of the funeral and other expenses that the Galley family has encountered since the sudden passing of their father Ken.
