Montville Teachers Study Impacts Of Climate Change

Two Lazar Middle School educators explored New Jersey's ocean waters, marine organisms, and the impacts of climate change on the ecosystem.

Seventh grade science teacher Karin Simeone was one of only 22 New Jersey educators selected to participate in a weeklong professional development institute at the Jacques Cousteau Research Education Center in Tuckerton.

Entitled “Ocean, Organisms, and Climate,” the July 27 through 31 program explored New Jersey’s ocean waters, marine organisms, and the impacts of climate change on the ecosystem.

The Robert R. Lazar Middle School teacher was joined at the institute by teacher Cheryl Zanone. Zanone, who was named Morris County Teacher of the Year on Sept. 10 by the Christie Administration, was the New Jersey Science Teachers Association administrator for the Institute.
