Montville Township Issues Mandatory Outdoor Water Restrictions for Residents and Businesses
Due to the recent drought, Montville Township has initiated outdoor water restrictions until further notice.

The Montville Township and the Public Works and Water and Sewer Utilities put out an alert addressing mandatory outdoor water restrictions for Montville residents and businesses due to the drought watch.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection issued a drought watch for northern and central New Jersey because of the recent lack of rainfall and high temperatures.
Rainfall measurements in July 2016 are 4 to 5 inches below the usual precipitation. In 2015, Montville Township saw the lowest local rainfall since 2001.

Montville Township has established obligatory restrictions on outdoor water use that all people must follow in order to assure there’s enough water for all residents and businesses in the township:
1. No lawn sprinkling, either by automatic systems or manual methods
2. No car washing with open hoses
3. No hosing of sidewalks or driveways
4. No filling of swimming pools
** Failure to comply with these restrictions will result in summons and fines **
Residents can water vegetable gardens by hand. For shrubs and flowerbeds, residents are permitted to use a bucket.
