The Montville Township Library Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Star Trek
The first Star Trek series ran from 1966 to 1968.
The Montville Township Library will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Star Trek TV Series with various celebrations next week.
Montville Star Trek fans are encouraged to wear Star Trek costumes to the library to honor the first Star Trek series from 1966 to 1968. Fans should also brush up on the franchise to prepare for Star Trek Trivia questions.
On Monday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m., the library will present a documentary called The Captains written and directed by William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk in the Star Trek franchise. In the documentary, Shatner interviews fellow actors who played starship captains in the series, such as Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula, and Chris Pine.

On Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., the library will host Paul Cirillo from the New Jersey Astronomical Society. Cirillo will discuss the series, the cast, and interesting facts about the franchise. He will also compare science fiction of the 1960s to science facts today.
No registration is required for the movie, but it’s suggested for the lecture. You can register online at montvillelibrary.org.
