Nearly 40 new teachers will join Montville's award-winning district for 2016-2017.

New Montville Township Public Schools teachers and interns begin the school year with two days of training and orientation.

Nearly forty new Montville Township Public Schools teachers and interns began two days of district orientation on Monday, August 29, 2016. Joining the new faculty were also a few mid-year hires from 2015-2016. The team gathered in the newly renovated Montville Township High School Media Center for a full day of training.

Superintendent Dr. René Rovtar, Montville Township Board of Education President Dr. Matthew Kayne and all district Supervisors attended the orientation activities.

The new staff were introduced to the district's technology by Information Technology Services Manager Austin Thomsen.

Throughout the day presentations were also made by School Business Administrator James Tevis, his Business Administration team and Director of School Counseling Leslee Scheckman. Both the Director and Supervisor of Special Services, Jennifer DeSaye and Pat Stryker also presented information to the new staff.
Each presentation was designed to provide new faculty with an overview of district procedures and resources.
Lunch, sponsored by the Montville Township Education Association, was served following a presentation by MTEA President Peter Porter.
Teachers and interns spent the remainder of the afternoon in their assigned schools.
New Teacher Orientation will continue on Tuesday, August 30 with a full day of Danielson Training led by Assistant Superintendents Andrea Woodring and Dr. Casey Shorter.
Principals, Sharon Carr, Jill Cisneros, Dominic Espositio, Dr. Pat Kennedy, David Melucci, Dr. Michael Raj and Douglas Sanford will each provide a segment of the day's training. Activities will focus on one of the four Danielson Domains; I. Planning and Preparation, II. Classroom Environment, III. Instruction and IV. Professional Responsibilities. Other presenters for the final day of New Teacher Orientation will include: Supervisor of Elementary Education Elise Miller, Supervisor of Humanities David Tubbs, Supervisor of the Arts Edward Fleischman, Supervisor of Mathematics, Science and Business Dr. Sandra Schwartz and Supervisor of World Languages and ESL Lisa Howard,
The entire Montville Township Public Schools staff will reconvene for the 2016-2017 academic year on Thursday, September 1. District schools will open for students on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
