WOODWORKING STUDENTS COMBINE FORM AND FUNCTION

March is Youth Art Month [YAM]. In October, woodworking students at Montville Township High School [MTHS] began preparing for YAM. Currently on display in the school’s rotunda are benches, boxes, tables, chairs, clocks and other functional wooden items.

“Students had to choose a woodworking project that would challenge their skills,” explained Woods II and III teacher, Donald Morgenroth. “They came up with their ideas themselves.”

Among the many useful projects on display are a set of pine Adirondack chairs with a matching table made by Rob Manetta and Connor Zack, and a park bench, crafted from recycled hockey sticks and pine, made by Trevor Bednash.

The woodworking display will remain in the MTHS rotunda through March.
