The Mustangs beat the Eastern Christian Eaglesin three straight games.
The Montville Township High School girls varsity volleyball bested Eastern Christian Eagles in three straight games at a scrimmage on September 7.
While the match ultimately won't count for the regular season, head coach Heidi Kmetz was pleased with her team's performance in its final practice game before the team begins its regular season on Saturday, September 11.
"I am satisfied with the way we performed today as well as the preseason in general," she said.

For Kmetz, the coming season gives the team a chance to bounce back from a disappointing 2009 season and continue its traditionally winning ways.
"I have been coaching at Montville High School for six years," she said. "With the exception of the 09 season, we have had winning seasons. "Last year, even though we did not do well, we finished second in our division."

The varsity team has a full compliment of returning veteran players, including team capitan, senior Taylor Strickland.
"This year, we want to be more competitive and improve our record and make it to the county and state title," Kmetz said. "We have a lot of experience with the veteran players and have the potential to go all the way".
The team opens its regular season at Vernon Township High School at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 11.
