$400K-Plus In Grants Awarded To Moorestown Arts Facility, NJ Says

One grant will support the recipient's operating costs, which a state leader said is extremely hard to come by.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Perkins Center for the Arts recently received a $287,900 grant from the New Jersey Council of the Arts, the state organization said.

The allocation to the center is part of a larger pot of grant funding, said New Jersey Council on the Arts Chair Elizabeth Mattson.

"Of the $28.3 million announced ... roughly 70 percent is to support the general operations of organizations in all 21 counties. We know this is the most challenging type of support for nonprofits to come by, and it’s critical to their success," she said.

"Operating dollars allow arts businesses to create and sustain tens of thousands of jobs, present hundreds of thousands of events, and attract and serve millions of people year-round," she added.

The Perkins Center for the Arts also recently received a second New Jersey Council on the Arts grant for $155,000 to co-sponsor a folk and traditional art project, the state organization said.
