Armed Standoff Lasting 10 Hours Ends In South Jersey, Police Say

RIVERSIDE, NJ — An armed individual was taken into custody Thursday after a 10-hour standoff, the Riverside Township Police Department said.

At around 12:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of Bridgeboro St.

There, they found a person who was armed who had barricaded themselves in a home.

Overhead footage from NBC 10 showed Bridgeboro Street filled with law enforcement on Thursday morning.

After negotiations and other efforts by law enforcement to safely clear the situation, the standoff ended with the person being taken into custody at around 10:40 a.m.

Officials called the outcome a "safe conclusion."

New Jersey State Police, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, the Delran Police Department, the Delanco Police Department, Palmyra EMS, and Virtua paramedics all assisted with the response.
