MOORESTOWN, NJ — A three-year project to improve safety and reduce congestion along roads in the township will be discussed on September 29.
Route 38, South Church Street (County Road 607/Hooten's Bridge), and Fellowship Road (County Road 673) are all scheduled to undergo extensive work after crash rates in this area have been shown to exceed statewide averages, township officials said.
This has been attributed to "geometric deficiencies" of the road, along with "substandard" arrangements for walkers and guiderail layouts.
According to NJDOT, Hooten's Bridge along South Church Street is also in subpar condition and is in need of repair.
Additional lanes, new traffic and pedestrian signals, and new ADA compliant ramps and sidewalks are all part of the plans.
Other safety upgrades include lighting, signs, and striping.
Drainage and stormwater management tools will also be installed.
In addition, milling and resurfacing of the current road will be carried out.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2027 and end in the summer of 2030.
The community is encouraged to join in at an information meeting on September 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Moorestown Municipal Building (111 West 2nd St.).
Final design plan displays will be presented alongside the opportunity for comments and questions.
