20 Inches Of Snow In Moorestown: What's Next As The Blizzard Fades?
The worst of the blizzard has passed, but its impacts will linger with hazardous roadways, delayed school openings and more.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Nearly 2 feet of snow fell Sunday and Monday in Moorestown, and the blizzard's impacts are expected to linger in its aftermath.
That includes a two-hour delays Tuesday for Moorestown schools.

A blizzard warning had been in effect until 6 p.m. Monday, but the National Weather Service (NWS) canceled it in the afternoon. A few snow showers remain possible in the afternoon hours, but it won't accumulate, the federal agency said.
Gusty winds may continue to blow around snow into the evening.

Moorestown received 19.5 inches of snow, according to the NWS. Meanwhile, 20.6 inches were measured in Mount Laurel for Burlington County's highest total as of this writing.

A statewide travel ban, which went into effect Sunday night, was lifted at noon Monday. But State Police and the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management are encouraging the public to keep avoiding unnecessary travel.
"Hazardous conditions persist in some parts of the state," the agencies said in a joint announcement. "Some roadways remain snow-covered, visibility is limited in some areas, and crews continue working to clear roads and restore safe travel."

Moorestown Township Public Schools will operate Tuesday on a two-hour delays.
Monday night's Town Council meeting will be held remotely.
Trash collection will resume Tuesday, with Monday-through-Thursday trash routes collected on a one-day delay. Thursday and Friday trash routes will both be conducted on Friday.
Recycling collection will take place Thursday.
Power outages have been prevalent across the region — there are 12,892 in Burlington County and 98,533 in the state as of this writing, according to data from poweroutage.us.
Burlington County Central Communications has fielded more than 1,000 calls from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, said county spokesperson David Levinsky. Several calls about downed wires and trees in the roadway.
Here's the NWS's latest forecast for Moorestown:
- Monday afternoon: A slight chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
- Monday night: Areas of blowing snow between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
- Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 29. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
- Tuesday night: A chance of snow after 1 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 22. Light southwest wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 45. Southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
