Lenape High School Bus In Serious Accident

Two people died in an accident Tuesday evening. The deceased were not students, New Jersey State Police said.

A bus carrying athletes from Lenape High School was involved in a serious accident in Burlington County on Tuesday evening, New Jersey State Police said.

Two men died in the crash, which happened around 5 p.m. on Pemberton Road. Neither of the deceased were students, authorities said.

A preliminary investigation found that a Volkswagen Passat collided with the bus, which was carrying 20 students from the school swim team, as well as two coaches and the driver.

The crash occurred in the lane where the bus was traveling, police said..

Both the driver and occupant of the Passat were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not yet been released.

Eight students and one adult were taken to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly with minor injuries, police said.

The accident is still under investigation.
