Barricade Suspect ID'd; BurlCo Man Fired Gun During 6-Hour Police Standoff: Authorities
The man fired 'multiple' rounds when police arrived, initiating a shelter-in-place for a residential neighborhood, officials said.

EVESHAM, NJ — Police have identified a Burlington County man accused of repeatedly firing his weapon during a 6-hour standoff with law enforcement in a residential Evesham neighborhood.
John G. Fox, 56, was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and two counts of criminal mischief. Additional charges may be forthcoming for the incident, which prompted a shelter-in-place, police said.
Evesham police reported to the first block of Brookfield Avenue at 2:24 a.m. Monday for an open 911 call. As officers responded, dispatch learned that the call stemmed from an argument in which one person had a gun.

Arriving officers were met with "multiple" instances of gunfire, hearing gunshots from the home. Authorities determined that a lone male suspect — later identified as Fox, a Brookfield Avenue resident — was barricaded inside.
The State Police T.E.A.M.S. Unit, which handles extraordinary emergencies, reached the scene. Fox was arrested just before 9 a.m. Monday.

Law enforcement never fired their weapons during the encounter, according to Evesham police. No officers or civilians were injured, but gunfire struck a neighboring home. Any resident in the area who discovers that their home or property was shot should immediately contact the Evesham Police Department, the agency advised.
Authorities say they recovered evidence, including several guns, when they executed a search warrant on the home.
