Sheriff's Officer Dies In Burlington County, Officials Say

Ofc. Brian Miller, a 17-year veteran of the Burlington County Sheriff's Office, died Thursday. He had served as a handler to K-9 Donatello.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A 17-year member of the Burlington County Sheriff's Office has died, officials said.

Sheriff's Officer Brian Miller died on Thursday, Feb. 23, according to the BCSO. His cause of death was not noted, and funeral services have not yet been announced.

Miller (Badge Number 3587) had served as a K-9 handler to K-9 Donatello, the sheriff's office said. He graduated from the Burlington County Police Academy Class 91 in 2006.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and all members of his law enforcement family," the sheriff's office said. "Officer Miller will be greatly missed. We got it from here."

Miller had two sons, Brandon and Noah, according to a social media post from his ex-wife Sara.

Several local police departments offered their thoughts and prayers to the sheriff's office, and to Miller's family and friends. This included departments in Delran, Westampton, Mount Holly, Bordentown, and Eastampton.

Crisis Intervention Team NJ (CIT-NJ) remembered Miller as "a positive presence" who always offered "a friendly smile and a kind word."
