Murder Charge For Man In Burlington County Woman's Shooting Death
Officials have charged a Burlington man in the shooting death of a 34-year-old woman in Trenton.
BURLINGTON, NJ — Officials in Mercer County have charged a Burlington man with murder and weapons offenses after a fatal shooting Sunday in Trenton.
Officials say 34-year-old Stephanie Vil of Burlington was shot dead Sunday morning in Trenton, just after 9 a.m. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has charged 38-year-old Jamar Leonard with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and certain persons not to possess a weapon.
The prosecutor’s office filed a motion to detain Leonard ahead of trial, officials said.

Around 9:06 a.m. on Feb. 12, Trenton police responded to a ShotSpotter activation for a female shot in the area of Prospect Street and W. Hanover Avenue, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said.
When officers arrived in the area, they found Vil with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at 9:19 a.m., police said.
