Silver Diner

As the dog days of summer wind down, Silver Diner is gearing up for one last summer celebration! The “Unofficial End of Summer” Labor Day Car Show will take place Monday, September 7, from 8 a.m. to noon at Silver Diner, 2131 Route 38 in Cherry Hill. Come check out an amazing collection of cars and enjoy a delicious breakfast at the diner. This is a rain or shine event. 
The show is open to all cars, of any make, model and year. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a $20 cash only car entry fee, there is no pre-registration available. The show is free for attendees. Over 80 trophies will be awarded at noon. Please be advised that tents, motorcycles, burnouts, sound systems or alcohol are not permitted.

“Unofficial End of Summer” Labor Day Car Show at Silver Diner

The Historical Society of Moorestown invites you to join author and historian Jeff Denman for a talk on his new book, Closing the Ring: George Washington’s War in the North 1778-1781. Although often labeled a stalemate, the northern theater of the American Revolution from 1778–81 was a defining period that sharpened George Washington’s strategic and political leadership. Facing internal divisions, supply crises, and the brutal winter at Morristown, he demonstrated resilience and adaptability despite Congress’s failures and the army’s hardships. His steady leadership and cultivation of key subordinates ultimately helped transform limited resources into a foundation for victory.
Using a rich tapestry of primary sources, author and historian Jeff Denman focuses on moments and locales rarely chronicled and provides an in-depth and captivating window into how one individual galvanized meager resources to accomplish the extraordinary.
This program is part of the Historical Society’s “New Jersey History Speaks Lecture Series”.

Closing the Ring: George Washington’s War in the North 1778-1781 with Jeff Denman

Richard Marx, retired Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI, is best known for leading the forensic recovery effort at the Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island, where he and his team spent 11 months sifting through 1.8 million tons of World Trade Center debris following the September 11 attacks.
Working with the FBI’s Philadelphia Evidence Recovery Team (ERT) and the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Marx coordinated a massive multi-agency operation that processed over 75,000 personal effects and aided in identifying the remains of numerous victims. During his nearly 25-year career, he also responded to other mass casualty incidents and high-profile investigations, including the aftermath of the USS Cole bombing and EgyptAir Flight 990.
He will speak about his experience as part of the Historical Society of Moorestown’s New Jersey History Speaks Lecture Series. Please register at the link under "more info" above.

<a href="https://www.samaritannj.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Samaritan</a> will host Healing Hearts – A Space for Grieving Children and Families on Saturday, September 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free, in-person support group is designed for children and teens ages 4-17 and their parent(s) or guardian(s) who are coping with the loss of a loved one. 
Led by Samaritan’s professional bereavement specialists, Healing Hearts provides a safe, supportive environment where families can process their grief together. The half-day session includes breakfast, lunch and snacks, movies, activities and memorialization for each family.

Samaritan Hosts Healing Hearts: A Space for Grieving Children and Families

So you think you know Benjamin Franklin? All are invited to a free lecture about Benjamin Franklin hosted by the Shipman Mansion on September 16 at 7:00 PM. Free mansion tours starting at 6:00 PM.We all think we know Benjamin Franklin, the inventor, the diplomat, the statesman. But before all that, Franklin was a tough, wily young entrepreneur making his way along the Delaware River and in Burlington City. This lecture uncovers the surprising, sometimes questionable tactics he used to get ahead long before the fame and reputation we usually remember. Prepare to be surprised by a side of Franklin that rarely appears in the history books.Our presenter, Skip Arey is a retired college lecturer with an interest in early American history.Light refreshments will be available during the event. Admission is free, though donations are gratefully accepted and directly support the ongoing restoration of the Historic Shipman Mansion. Recent restoration efforts have included a full exterior repainting and significant wood‑repair work, and community contributions help sustain these improvements. First Methodist Church of Moorestown invites the entire community to its Third Annual Apple Festival on Friday, September 18, from 4:30–7:30 p.m. The festival will be held rain or shine at 446 E. Camden Avenue in Moorestown.
Bring your family and friends for an evening filled with fall fun, food, entertainment and opportunities to make lasting memories together.
Festival attractions include:

During the American Revolution, 7,700 British and Hessian troops retreated from Philadelphia, storming through Moorestown. They looted homes, burned fields, and famously snatched 40 chickens from the Smith-Cadbury Mansion to roast them right in the parlor! Now, 250 years later, it’s time to settle the score.
Join us for a lively, family-friendly 1-mile “retreat” through historic Moorestown. We’re retracing the steps of the invading soldiers, “returning” stolen goods, and celebrating our community’s incredible history with more speed and spirit than ever before.
