This Halloween season, don’t miss “Bad Seed” on stage at Bridge Players Theatre Company in Burlington, N.J. Based on William March’s critically-acclaimed book, “Bad Seed” by Maxwell Anderson tells the chilling tale of a girl born with a void where her conscience should be.
Little Rhoda Penmark is sweet, full of old-fashioned graces and admired by her elders. She is the epitome of charm and innocence – or is she? Her mother, Christine, has an uneasy feeling about her. And when one of Rhoda's schoolmates is mysteriously drowned at a picnic, she becomes truly alarmed, for the boy who was drowned had won the penmanship medal that Rhoda felt she deserved.
A great psychological thriller, the story of “Bad Seed” is sure to put theatre-goers in the Halloween spirit. Director Gabrielle Affleck of Philadelphia has put together a striking cast of local talent from Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania; including Alice Weber of Fairless Hills, Pa. as Christine Penmark, Rhoda’s loving and worried mother, and Rose Lloyd-Slifkin of Delran, N.J. as Rhoda Penmark, the seemingly perfect little girl.
