An Evening Of Performing And Fine Arts In Moorestown

A Gala Entertainment and Fine Art Showcase Benefitting MoorArts, January 28 at Moorestown Community House.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown Community House will be transformed into a cabaret stage and fine arts venue on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. as MoorArts hosts its premier fundraiser featuring professional entertainers and established artists.

An exciting line-up of notable area performers will take the stage to sing a variety of musical selections throughout the evening at the MoorArts Gala on Jan. 28. In addition, 22 professional artists will exhibit and have for sale exceptional works ranging from painting to mosaics to photography.

The event is a unique presentation of the outstanding fine and performing arts that thrive in Moorestown and surrounding areas. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy gourmet food and beverages throughout the evening. Tickets are $100 per person, and can be purchased online at www.MoorArts.org.

Noted regional performer and attorney John Comegno will MC the event, which will be MoorArts’ third biannual gala. All proceeds from MoorArts’ “Evening of Performing & Fine Arts” will support arts-based teacher grants and student scholarships in Moorestown schools, as well as community arts events throughout the year.

Five outstanding vocalists will entertain gala attendees: John D. Smitherman, Erica Scanlon Harr, Christine Keinzle Serenbetz, Kyrus Keenan Westcott, and Greg Harr.

  • John D. Smitherman has starred in over 100 different roles on the professional opera and theatre stages and is the Producing Artistic Director at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman and The Laugh Out Loud Theatre Company, and is Entertainment Director for Places Please Productions.
  • Former Miss New Jersey Erica Scanlon Harr holds an MFA in acting from Manhattan’s New School for Drama and has performed in musical theater throughout the region and with the Disney Cruise line in Europe and the Caribbean. She recently made her Off Broadway debut in Dena Blizzard's One Funny Mother.
  • Christine Kienzle Serenbetz has performed in musical theater all over the country and worked with various acting studios in New York. Lauded in The New York Times for her performance as Eva Peron in Papermill Playhouse’s Evita, she reprised that role for MoorArts’ in its 2013 production.
  • Kyrus Keenan Westcott is an award winning performer who has performed on tour, off-Broadway, and throughout the region in many roles. He was a headliner in MoorArts’ productions of Hairspray! and Putnam Co. Spelling Bee.
  • Greg Harr spent 12 years directing for Mainstage Center for the Arts Summer Program, has starred in numerous musical productions at the Eagle Theatre in Hammonton, and since 2004 has had a leadership role in Moorestown High School’s Theater program.

The art exhibition and sale will feature award-winning artists who have shown throughout the region and beyond. The art component of the event has been organized and curated by Moorestown resident Pam Regan, owner of Bluestone Fine Art Gallery in Philadelphia. A variety of mediums will be on display and for sale, including oil, watercolor, mosaic, and photography.

Participating artists include Sarah L. Armstrong, Amy Barton, Daniel Begg, Linda Burns, Renee Egan, Tom Gaines, Jeff Gola, Catherine Hipple, Neal Hughes, Judith Karten, Catherine Kuzma, Deborah Moss Marris, Marsia Mason, Geoffrey McClain, Schuyler McClain, Brenda McCue, Jim Militello, Bob Minnick, Mark Natale, Linda Ramsay, Tom Sheckels, and Ira Stark.

An online preview and sale of all the artwork from the gala, plus additional pieces, will continue through February 4. The online sale can be accessed on MoorArts’ website, www.MoorArts.org.

All purchased artwork will be delivered and installed free of charge, and 15% of all artists' sales will support MoorArts initiatives. There will also be a display of specially selected student artwork created by Moorestown High School students, and a tribute display of Taline King’s photography.
