First Presbyterian Church Youth Choir to Perform in Denmark
Fourth overseas tour for Moorestown church youth choir

First Presbyterian Church Youth Choir Invited to Perform in Denmark
First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown is going abroad! The Denmark Touring Choir is entering its final stages of preparation for its tour July 28-August 7 through Denmark and Scandinavia. 52 singers, from third graders to college students, comprise the choir – 35 adults will oversee the young singers, provide piano accompaniments (Kathy Gunsallus and Carol Manion), record the event in audio and video, and help as needed. Before each performance, a young person will lead the choir in a devotion.
In the tour, the group will present nine concerts, seven in Denmark, one in Germany and one in Sweden in noble historic churches, some dating from 1100; visit many historic sites; see important museums and castles; and have unique recreation in LEGOLAND and Tivoli.
Above all, they will sing the Gospel, in some cases in the native languages of Danish, German and Swedish. The repertoire will include classical choral masterpieces by composers such as Schubert and Allegri, Scandinavian folk songs and hymns, and many African-American spirituals. As in the past tours, participants will enjoy interaction with the audience. Before each concert, a choir member will lead the singers in prepared devotions.
