First of Two AED's In Place on Wesley Bishop Field in Moorestown
The installation of the AED comes ahead of pending legislation that would require AEDs to be installed on youth athletic fields across NJ.

If pending legislation is signed into law, Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) will be required on youth athletic fields throughout New Jersey by Sept. 1 of next year.
Whether the “Michael Fisher Law” passes or not, Moorestown is prepared.
For the past two years, the Moorestown Rotary Breakfast Club and Dr. Ben Blank have teamed up with the Moorestown Recreation Department, Moorestown Lacrosse Club and Moorestown Youth Football Association to have AED’s installed on recreation fields in Moorestown.

Last week, the first of two AED’s were installed at Wesley Bishop Field.
State law currently only mandates the presence of AED’s on fields on school property.

The “Michael Fisher Law” has passed NJ State Senate and Budget Appropriations Committee and awaits Gov. Chris Christie’s final signature. If the Bill is signed as is, there will be a requirement to have AED’s by September 1 2016 on all youth fields.
According to the March of Dimes, congenital heart defects are the most common birth defects which affects 1 in 100 children.
