Formula Exchange Safe Spaces Are In Burlington Co. Here's Where.
The shortage of baby formula in the United States has led some to look in other places besides traditional stores for the product.
BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ â Several Burlington County first responders recently took steps to help ensure those who acquire baby formula outside of a traditional store setting remain safe.
Delran, Lumberton and Moorestown have set up what they call formula exchange safe spaces at the following locations:
- Delran Emergency Medical Squad Building, 900 S. Chester Ave., Delran (all hours)
- Lumberton Police Department Lobby, 35 Municipal Drive, Lumberton (7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
- Moorestown Police Department Station, 1245 N. Church St. (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
"The area is video recorded and designated by a sign near the front door of the building," Moorestown Police Chief Walter Walczak told Patch regarding his township's safe space.

If you do not live near one of those locations, the Voorhees Police Department offered the following tips to help ensure those who acquire baby formula outside of a traditional store setting remain safe:
- Conduct the exchange in a "well-lit, highly-trafficked, public place" with surveillance or security officers present.
- Let a "trusted friend or family member know all the details of the exchange" (Who are you meeting with? When? Where?)
- Check that the packaging for the formula you receive is sealed.
Although baby formula presently seems to be the common item exchanged, any items purchased over the internet that require hand delivery can be exchanged in the Moorestown location, Walczak said.
