Garfield Park Academy Invites Educators to Workshop

Workshop designed to help special education professionals help students with behavior challenges.

Willingboro, NJ - Garfield Park Academy, a private school serving students with learning, social, and emotional disabilities is hosting a workshop for all area educators and service providers. The half-day workshop, De-Escalation Techniques, will be held from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM on Friday, October 19th at the school’s Willingboro campus, located at 24 Glenolden Lane.

Every day, educators work to help students with behavior challenges and are called upon to help students regain self-control in seemingly out-of-control situations. The key to preventing a crisis is to see it coming and to take action. Recognizing the importance of helping students maintain control when faced with difficult emotions, Garfield Park Academy leadership has recruited Dr. Ange Puig.

Dr. Puig, a member of the American Psychological Association’s Division of Trauma Psychology, who has helped patients, families and the community for over 35 years will teach participants effective tools and techniques to both help de-escalate a situation and avoid a potential crisis. This workshop is geared toward educators and service providers in both public and private schools to help students at large.
