Increase In Drug, Alcohol Cases In Moorestown Schools

MOORESTOWN, NJ - The Moorestown Public School District saw an increase in substance abuse cases that were reported in the last school year, according to a recently released report.

New Jersey has released its annual list of substance-abuse cases reported by each school district, revealing the most recent data of reported cases.

The state has also released the list of highest increases – and biggest reductions – in cases from the previous year, between 2016-17 and 2017-18, which were the most recent years available.

The Moorestown Public School District doubled the number of drug and alcohol cases from one year to the next. It reported 12 in 2017-18, an increase of six from the previous school year. It ranked No. 121 in total cases reported, and had the 89th highest increase in the state.

The state Department of Education has cautioned that these numbers are reported by each district, so each jurisdiction is responsible for reporting its results fairly and accurately. But they are required by law to report them.
