Man Dead After Hitting Sign, Trees Along I-295 In Burlington County, Police Say
He drove off the road twice.
MANSFIELD, NJ — A man is dead after he crashed a pickup truck along I-295 north on Saturday, New Jersey State Police said.
At around 3 p.m., troopers responded to mile marker 52.6 for a report of a crash.
Based on early evidence, James R. Apel, 59, lost control of the Food pickup truck and drove off the right side of the road.

The truck fell down an embankment, hit a road sign, and came back onto the road.
He then fell back down a grass embankment and hit multiple trees.

Apel, of Browns Mills, died as a result of the crash.
The crash is still under review, authorities said.
