Man Guilty After Bringing Gun To South Jersey Shopping Center: Officials

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ —A 36-year-old man from South Jersey pleaded guilty on Wednesday after he brought a gun to the Tanger Outlets in Atlantic City, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Brandon Jackson, of Burlington Township, was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm without a permit and fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law.

On April 20, 2023, Atlantic City Police were notified that a suspicious person was wearing a black satchel across the front of his body and had a handgun.

Officers detained Jackson and found a .45 caliber Hi-Point handgun that he did not have a valid permit for.

Jackson's plea calls for a recommended sentence of eight years in jail with a mandatory parole ineligibility provision of four years, officials said.

Sentencing is scheduled to take place on Aug. 5, 2026.
