Man Killed In Alleged Moorestown Home Invasion Identified By Authorities
He was identified Monday evening.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The suspect who was killed during a home invasion in Moorestown early Sunday morning has been identified. James R. Doyle, 26, of Moorestown, was pronounced dead at a house in the 700 block of Hartford Road in Moorestown early Sunday morning, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Moorestown Police Chief Lee Lieber announced Monday evening.
Doyle’s death was ruled a homicide during an autopsy performed today by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood.
Doyle was one of two men a homeowner told authorities broke into his house during a 911 call at about 12:23 a.m. Sunday morning.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Doyle unresponsive. He later died at the scene. The homeowner who has not been identified because he has not been charged with a crime, said he stabbed both intruders, and that one escaped before police arrived.
Detectives are investigating whether a man who arrived at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro later Sunday morning with a stab wound to the leg is connected to this incident.

The case is being investigated by the Moorestown Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. The lead investigators are Moorestown Police Detective Jason Burk and BCPO Detective Anthony Luyber. Officers from the Cinnaminson, Delran, Maple Shade and Mount Laurel police departments also responded to the call.

Doyle was previously sentenced to five years probation for a 2016 drug conviction, the Burlington County Times reports. He was also convicted of a disorderly persons offense in municipal court in 2014.
“Jimmy always had a smile," one woman said during a candlelight vigil for Doyle on Sunday night, according to the Courier Post. "He was always the same.”
