MFS Dance Team Performs For Seniors At Medford Leas

MOORESTOWN, NJ — At the beginning of the school year, the Moorestown Friends School Dance Team said it wanted to have a service-oriented performance before the winter break and before team competition heated up.

The team did just that when it performed for residents at Medford Leas, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Medford on Wednesday, Dec. 14. About 10 students participated in the performance.

“The officers thought a series of winter-themed dances would be really nice for the senior citizens,” Dance Team President and Moorestown resident Lizzie Cohen said.

Cohen is a junior at Moorestown Friends School. Classmate Liz Huettl said the team chose to perform at Medford Leas because it has worked with Moorestown Monthly Meeting in the past.

“We wanted to give back to what they gave to [the Meeting],” Huettl said of the performance, which was "holiday themed, but religion generic."

“We’ve been working really hard on it and we were really excited [to perform for the residents],” Huettl said.

The Moorestown Friends Dance Team is in its third year. They perform at a variety of events during the school year in addition to regional competitions.
