MFS Girls Basketball Team Takes Holiday Tournament Title

The Moorestown boys and Moorestown Friends girls had both advanced to the finals of their respective holiday tournaments.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - The Moorestown Friends School girls basketball team took home hardware from its trip to Pitman for the annual holiday tournament.

Moorestown Friends defeated host Pitman, 59-34, to win the Pitman Classic on Friday, according to nj.com. Veyoni Davis and Isabella Runyan each had 22 points in the win.

Moorestown Friends advanced to the final of the Pitman Classic final after defeating Palmyra, 61-29, on Thursday. Davis lead the way with 23 points, followed by Runyan with 18.

Pitman was in the final after defeating Overbrook, 62-27, in the first round on Thursday.

The Moorestown High School boys basketball team advanced to the finals of the Eastern Vikings Tournament final after defeating Sterling, 72-58. Jagger Zrada lead the way with 26 points, followed by Nick Cartwright-Atkins with 19. Ben Cantwell had 11 points in the win.

Eastern defeated Kingsway, 67-49, in the first round on Thursday before defeating Moorestown, 50-40, in the final on Friday. Cartwright-Atkins had 15 points for Moorestown in the loss.

The Moorestown Friends School boys basketball team fell to host Audubon, 56-37, in the Audubon Tournament on Thursday. Moorestown Friends finished third after downing Gloucester, 51-47, in the consolation game. Jack Stern lead the way with 17 points in the team's first win of the season.

Gloucester was in the consolation game after losing to Holy Cross 78-47 in the first round.
